the last wall standing

Barcelona has had two walls throughout its history. The first was built by the Romans, as we have in this post. The second was built in the 13th century and surrounded everything that is now the old city district.

This wall was demolished in 1860 to build the Eixample district. Today there is only a small part of the wall left on Avinguda Paral·lel, on the corner of Portal de Santa Madrona.

If you go there, you will see 3 beautiful industrial chimneys on the other side. They are a classic of Barcelona, it is worth paying them a visit.

Since you are in the area to go to the Maritime Museum, located in the medieval shipyards. The building was rebuilt in the 20th century and we do not know what it was like in medieval times, but it is spectacular anyway. The restaurant is very good and has a very nice garden
