The Església del Pi is one of the few buildings that have not been modified since the middle ages, unlike what happens with the Cathedral. You have to go first thing in the morning, when there will be fewer people in the square and the light is more spectacular. It is a very nice place if you go in the right moment.
the zoo in the citadel
The Barcelona zoo is inside the Ciutadella Park (literally the citadel park). So you have a 15 minute walk from home so surely you will have to go. The zoo is pretty standard but the kids will enjoy it.
sushi in the playground (and a coffee from the 14th century)
In Barcelona it is very common what is called “hacer el vermut”, which consists of sitting on a terrace about 12 or 1 (here you eat later, between 2 and 3) and have a beer with a small “tapa”(a small portion of food).

the amusement park in the moutain
The tallest mountain in Barcelona is Tibidabo, and it is about 500 meters high. Right at the top there is an amusement park that is also called Tibidabo, and is one of the oldest in Europe.
the beach has not always been there
Barcelona now has kilometers of well-maintained beaches. The ones that are closest to home (20m walk) are the ones called Sant Sebastià (our favourite) and La Barceloneta, but anyone is fine. In summer the beach is very crowded, it is best to go first thing or late in the afternoon.
cerdà didn’t mean it this way
Until 1860 Barcelona was only what today is the old city, and was surrounded by a wall. In 1860 it was decided to demolish the wall and start the expansion of the city with the construction of what is now the Eixample district (which literally means expansion). In a very short time, thousands of houses were built where before there were only fields, and Barcelona multiplied by 10 its population.
a day in the park
Montjuic is one of the mountains around Barcelona, in this case the one that is right next to the sea. Today we will take a walk through one of its parks and end up eating on its top.
mies in the fountain
One of the most visited attractions in Barcelona is the so called ‘Magic Fountain de Montjuic’. It is a music show where the water of the fountains changes shape and color. We are not very fans and there are always many people, but hey, once in a lifetime he can be fine;)
