The Mercat de Santa Caterina (Francesc Cambó 16) is the second most important after the Boqueria. We here only buy meat, specifically at the David Carnisseria shop. All the rest, as we explained in another post, we buy it in La Boqueria.
The market was reformed during the early 2000s.
Inside is much wider than La Boqueria and there are fewer tourists. But again, the markets are a place of work, not tourist attractions.
If you go to the market, you can visit the Casa dels Entremesos (Plaça de les Beates 2) where children can enjoy all the ‘gegants’ of Barcelona (in this post we explain what they are). It is an entertaining visit.
If you want to eat here, in Blau Cucina (Freixures 5) they have an economic menu and also pizza in pieces. Another option is a good burger in Bacoa (Colomines 2). A good sweet option is Honey-B (Sant Pere Més Baix 36), but they don’t have tables.
