Montjuic is one of the mountains around Barcelona, in this case the one that is right next to the sea. Today we will take a walk through one of its parks and end up eating on its top.
To start we have to go to the Paralel station of the L3 metro, and there take the Funicular de Montjuic. The children will like it.

When you arrive at the top you can look for the Municipal Pool of Montjuic (Miramar 31), which is right next to the station and is outdoor. There’s a nice bar there (Salts) with great views over the city. The high diving competition of the 1992 Olympic Games was disputed here.

Then our goal is to reach the Montjuic Castle, on the top of the mountain. There are two ways to do it. The first is by taking the cable car that goes right next to where the funicular arrives.

The other option is walking. It is not a long time (half an hour or so), and there are two parks where to do it: the Mossèn Cinto Verdaguer where picnic is typical, or the Joan Brossa where there are several bars and playgrounds for children. We like this second option more, it is a good way to have a good time with your family.

In any case with the GPS of the mobile it will be easy to get to the castle. It is an 18th century building that can be visited.

Once there, our advice is that you look for a place called La Caseta del Migdia. It is about 10 minutes walk from the castle, but the road is flat. It is a bar in the middle of the mountain where you can have a drink, and they also give a simple meal, but it is good for the children. It’s a pretty cool place in the late afternoon.
